Cloud Directory vs Outlook GAL
The native Microsoft 365 Global Address List (GAL) is limited. Cloud Directory adds the missing flexibility without IT changing anything on the tenant.
| Feature | Cloud Directory | Outlook GAL |
|---|---|---|
| External contacts and subcontractors | ||
| Employees without Microsoft license | ||
| Photo avatars from Microsoft Graph | ||
| Filter by department, domain, license | ||
| Visible in mobile browser | ||
| Whitelabel with own logo | ||
| Google Workspace as second source | ||
| PWA install on smartphone | ||
| Manual contact overrides | ||
| Push to Outlook contacts of all employees | ||
| Audit log across all sync runs | ||
| Setup in under 15 minutes |
When Cloud Directory makes sense
If you regularly need external contacts, subcontractors or unlicensed employees in your directory, the native Outlook GAL is too rigid. Cloud Directory extends it with filters, whitelabel and a modern web directory, without changing the tenant.
